Be tough on perpetrators

Letters

SORCERY accusation-related violence (Sarv) has climb new heights as authorities are left with a lot to address it.
This is a great threat to humans, especially vulnerable females.
In recent months and years, Sarv has made headlines, portraying a very negative image of Papua New Guinea.
I believe that the statistics of Sarv in PNG are kept by the United Nations and law enforcement agencies.
How do we put an end to this evil doing?
As individuals, we cannot do much.
Our voice is limited.
The Government is obliged to protect the freedom of its people.
I am of the view that the police force does not have a response mechanism specifically in place to address Sarv.
Sarv cases can come under attempted murder, which is a serious crime that falls under the Criminal Code.
The Government needs to enact strong legislations to protect people from being victims of monstrous perpetrators.
I want Prime Minister James Marape to consider this and toughen the laws and ensure those perpetrating Sarv serve up to life in prison.
PNG has had enough of such monsters that are nothing but just sick in their heads.
