EAST Sepik police commander Supt Albert Beli has thanked Police Commissioner David Manning and the police promotion board for promoting 44 police officers in the province.
Supt Beli said out of the 44, one had been promoted to inspector while the other 43 were promoted from first constable to chief sergeant.
He said this was the highest number that had been promoted for different ranks.
Supt Beli said this on Friday while congratulating the promoted officers and challenged them to work according to their ranks and positions they had earned.
“I will not hesitate to demote those who are not performing according to their promoted positions,” he said.
“There are many others who also applied for promotions but did not make it through, so for those of you who were promoted, take these promotions with pride and work with pride.”
Supt Beli said he had advised the officers to fill in the required forms to confirm that they had resumed work according to their promoted positions.
He said those who had been promoted to the inspector would have to go for training out of the province and would take up new roles and responsibilities once they returned.
