Recruitment process continues, Tkatchenko says

HOUSING and Urban Development Minister Justin Tkatchenko says the recruitment process under the National Housing Corporation (NHC) is continuing with over 10,000 applicants for the 210 positions.
Tkatchenko told The National that the government was looking for qualified Papua New Guineans to fill these positions. He said under the government’s reform there was a restructure in which the number of positions were reduced from 350 to 210.
“We re-advertised every single position that had also caused problems for the acting managing director (MD) Elizabeth Bowada because she was being treated like the enemy for the job she’s doing,” he said.
“Now we are advertising for qualified Papua New Guineans to do the job properly without fear or favour.
“There’s a committee that’s being set up to independently go through those applications and only those qualified people will be chosen.
Tkatchenko said most of the positions in the NHC had unqualified people which had been a process of the past.
He said Bowada, while acting in the MD’s position for the last 12 months, had been victimised, harassed and threatened with arrest for allegations which were false and defamatory.
