Bihute jail festive season sports ends on high note

Chairman and coordinator of the Bihute Jail Christmas/New Year sports competition Insp Leo Purai said the Lady Birds beat Blockers 3-0 in sets to win the women’s volleyball final.
He said in the men’s touch final Blockers beat Spartans 4-2.
“During special festive seasons especially Christmas and New Year at Bihute jail we stage Christmas/New Year sporting activities to give prisoners, warders and families and the surrounding communities a chance to play and observe the festive season meaningfully,” he said. Insp Purai thanked the management of the jail under the command of Chief Supt Donald Apeti for its support in staging a successful competition.
He also extended his appreciation to games coordinator Major Andrew Waitao, assistant coordinator Major Adoka Kwaieloi and their assistants Isaac Illailo and Francis Ronson.
The teams that participated were: women’s volleyball — Lady Birds, Blue Birds, Staff, Mountain Dew, 3-Kona, Back Street, Kopi Rutz, Blockers and Green House.
The men’s teams were: touch — Spartans, ID24, Reds, Brothers, Green-Gold, Stallion, Blues, District Wiawia, Staff, Blockers and Kopi Rutz.
The games ended on a high note, the winners and those who made it to the finals walked away with prizes and special awards.
