GIBURI Raiders continued their unbeaten run in Pool A of the Morata Offseason Rugby League competition with an 8-4 win over Iaurogah Storm at the Kone Tigers Oval in Port Moresby on Sunday.
The Raiders maintain the top spot with 10 points followed by Megusa Brothers (8) and Talapia Magpies (6).
In other matches, 38 Jets posted a 10-4 win over Magpies and M2 Mumuts beat M3 Bulldogs 6-0.
Despite the wet conditions over the weekend, matches went ahead with teams turning up in numbers.
Competition officials noted a grind in matches with poor ground conditions causing stalemates while the rest of the matches went smoothly.
Referees Stanley Lesson and Alex Moirua were forced to officiate without their boots after previous matches had worsened the ground conditions.
League president Samson Metofa thanked all the players for respecting the referees.
He said the commitment from teams over the weekend had indicated a positive shift in the players’ attitudes in the competition.
“This illustrates a positive change which will contribute to lifting the standard of the competition,” Metofa said.
