A BILL on the Independent Commission against Corruption is high on the agenda as Parliament resumes today, according to Leader of Government Business James Marape.
Marape, also the Finance Minister, said the full agenda would be endorsed by Cabinet this morning. Parliament resumes at 2pm.
Marape said high on the agenda would be the ICAC Bill and other unfinished businesses.
The ICAC Bill has been in the pipeline for the past two years but had not come to fruition.
The Opposition has been claiming that the delay on the bill was deliberate.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill said after last month’s no-confidence vote that the Government would complete a number of important legislations to be tabled in this sitting of Parliament.
“In the next session of Parliament we will present bills on the establishment of the Independent Commission against Corruption and cyber security legislation among other new business to come before the House,” he said.
Marape did not mention the proposed supplementary budget to address issues relating to financing and cash flow the Government currently faces.
Treasurer Patrick Pruaitch said last week he had already alerted Prime Minister Peter O’Neill on the need for a supplementary budget in light of concerns raised in Treasury’s mid-year economic and fiscal outlook.
