SP Hunters centre Jokadi Bire has made further improvement after undergoing surgery in a Gold Coast hospital last week.
“Jokadi is talking and laughing with his Hunters teammates, who visit him regularly in his room in a general ward of the hospital,” the club said in a statement yesterday.
“He is also speaking with doctors and nurses, who continue to provide outstanding medical assistance to Jokadi.
“Jokadi yesterday watched a livestream of the Hunters’ clash with Burleigh from his hospital room.
“The livestream was arranged by the Queensland Rugby League.
“Jokadi is reading all messages of support that have been sent via email at [email protected].
Hunters general manager Scott Barker said Jokadi was thankful for the messages of support from across the world. He was also grateful for the expertise of medical staff at the hospital.
“The Hunters management remain in contact with Jokadi’s family, who continue to receive the first updates on his progress,” the club said.
“Jokadi has asked for privacy at this time.
“He will work with the Hunters on the release of further information at the appropriate time.”
