THE Birip Primary School in Wabag, Enga, celebrated the official opening of two buildings last Friday by local MP Sam Abal and Governor Peter Ipatas.
The DSIP-funded building houses four classrooms and a science and home economic laboratory funded jointly by the Enga government and the PJV under the tax credit scheme.
Abal urged the people to look after the projects as they would benefit students.
“This is the beginning of more to come and taking care of these infrastructure is the responsibility of the community,” he said.
He said the DSIP committee handed funds to the school board and administration to carry out projects in a new approach.
Abal said he would use the same approach to improve and fund schools in his electorate.
Ipatas said education was the key to Enga’s success and urged MPs to improve the standard of education in the province.
“We cannot say we will produce good leaders and educated people unless we cooperate to do something that will improve education standards,” Ipatas said.
He said the Enga government would improve
school facilities in the province.
