GOD is always merciful to His people because of His great love for them, Catholic Archbishop Reverend Rochus Tatamai says.
Tatamai shared this message on Sunday after Easter saying it was a time focused on God’s divine mercy.
“On divine mercy, we ask for and to obtain the grace and mercy of God, and it’s all God’s actions to us,” he said.
“We just have to trust in God’s abundant mercy and also to find ways how to show and communicate this mercy to others around us and act in our lives as a conduit of God’s mercy to them.
“God is always merciful, always forgiving, no matter how badly we’ve led our lives, broken our promises, shattered our dreams and told lies, God is always merciful.
“He is full of love for us all.”
Tatamai referenced Bible verse John 20:19-31 in his sermon
where Jesus, on the day of resurrection appeared to the disciples, who were locked in a room, because
they were afraid of the Jews and what had happened to Jesus on Good Friday.
“Jesus appeared and announced to them, ‘Peace be with you’,” he said.
“They were fearful because they saw the intensity and the tragedy that Jesus had gone through, they had their doors closed. “Not only the physical doors were closed but also their minds and hearts were closed.
“Jesus appeared to them and He had to convince them by showing them His wounds which was a concrete testimony of His love.”
Tatamai also noted that while Jesus was in the closed room with His disciples, He breathed on
them and said receive the Holy Spirit and also instructed them that: “As the Father sent me, I am sending you”.
He said this reminded Christians of the first creation where God breathed into creation.
“That life was lost through disobedience and pride,” he said.
“Through the resurrection, what was lost has been recreated.”
Tatamai urged the people to continue the work that Jesus had started and preach God’s Word throughout the world.
