A COMPANY has given K30,000 worth of building materials to the Cheshire Disability Services PNG to maintain its facility.
Barbara Mc’Grory, the chairman of the Cheshire Disability Service PNG board, said the materials from BNBM Hardware would go towards completing the physiotherapy unit.
“The physiotherapy unit was undergoing renovation using funds from another source. These materials would be of great help in completing the unit,” she said. BNBM Hardware human resource and administration manager Torre Miria said they found out that the non-profitable organisation was looking for between K20,000 and K30,000 to renovate its facilities.
“They gave us a scope of work which included patients’ rooms, treatment rooms, picket fence, bathroom, toilets and water tanks, one of which was leaking. Included in the building materials were two water tanks, a television set and cabinets for the treatment rooms.” He said the company wanted to partner with communities they did business with.
“We will continue to support charity organisations not only in Port Moresby but other parts of the country where our centres are.”
Cheshire Disability Services programmes officer Joyce Koupere said residents at the hostel would benefit from the donation which would also reduce the water bills.
