Board in place for authority

 KONEBADA Petroleum Park Authority finally has a board in place.

The board was sworn in by senior magistrate Cosmas Bidar in Port Moresby yesterday. 

The board members include Raho Kevau (chairman), Ralph Saulep (deputy chairman), Sisia Morea (board member), ex-officios; Rendle Rimua (Department of Petroleum and Energy Secretary), Dairi Vele (Department of Treasury Secretary), John Andrias (Department of Trade, Commerce and Industry Secretary),  Romilly Kila Pat (Department of Lands and Physical Planning Secretary), Hakaua Harry (Department of National Planning and Monitoring Secretary), Leslie Alu (National Capital District Commission city manager), Gei Guni Raga (Central provincial administrator) and Donald Valu (KPPA chief executive officer).

Kevau thanked the Government and National Executive Council for having the trust in the appointees.

He said the authority was now tasked to create an industrial area suitable for leading downstream gas-based industries to establish in PNG. 

“The Konebada Petroleum Park will be the central component of development and investment of petrochemical processing of downstream of or natural gas resources,” Kevau said.

Petroleum and Energy Minister Nixon Duban challenged the board to ensure Government’s plans for the park is being realised.

“The park has got potential, you just got to make sure that it is realised. You are in the position where you will make the decision on the domestic market obligations become real,” Duban said.
