Board plans to meet with parents

THE Morobe education board is planning a consultative meeting with students and parents of the closed Bunsil High School in Siassi, an official says.
Provincial Education Board programme adviser Keith Tangui said the trip was to establish facts first- hand on the school’s status and to discuss its future.
“We will be submitting a report to Governor Ginson Saonu, so we have to be there in person to see the school’s condition and infrastructure, talk with the parents and students and the caretaker staff,” he said.
Tangui said since the school’s closure, students had all been sent home and had missed out on a school year.
“Our meet is also to confirm the number of students who have been affected by the closure,” he said.
PEB executive officer Nathaniel Selem said the report would request funding to reopen the school next year.
“There are a number of incomplete projects also, such as classrooms and teachers’ houses and the burnt down mess,” he said.
“These have to be rebuilt and completed by the time the school reopens.”
Member for Tewai-Siassi Dr Kobby Bomareo said he donated K150,000 to the school last year.
