A LEADING primary school in Bulolo town, Morobe, is upgrading its building infrastructure in order to be a high school in the near future.
With funding assistance of K100,000 from the Morobe government, St Steven’s Lutheran Primary School has seen construction start on a new four-in-one classroom building.
Head teacher Timothy Bailey said the school planned to be a high school by 2022, and needed to have more buildings, staffing and equipment to meet Government requirements.
He said construction on the new building was in progress after a ground breaking ceremony in August.
Bailey said the school and its parents were ready to do their part in helping build the school to be upgraded to a junior high school.
“Many parents in Bulolo town have shown interests to have their children continuing at St Steven’s, doing other higher grades,” Bailey said.
“Also, those parents who have their children, currently attending Bayune High School and Grace Memorial Secondary, have also shown interest.”
Bailey said academic results for students attending primary schools in Bulolo town was one thing that teachers were working hard to improve.
He said St Steven’s had enough space for more development in terms of teachers’ houses, classrooms and other developments to make it ready to be a high school.
