Bomana Road to undergo K17.8mil upgrade

THE National Capital District Commission will use K17.8 million to repair and upgrade the Bomana Road.
Work was to start on Saturday.
The project, including sealing, is expected to start from the Hiritano Highway to the Bomana Correctional Institute Service boom gate.
Bomana Prison commander Superintendent Kiddy Keko thanked NCD Governor Powes Parkop and Moresby North East MP and Housing and Urbanisation Minister John Kaupa for the project.
“It will improve our service delivery and our performance,” Keko said of the new road.
“Road is an important asset for development so with this project, we are looking forward to other developments in the 9-Mile and Bomana area.” Parkop gave an assurance to the people at Bomana and CIS that the next development in the area was to help set up a centre there with the help of business houses.
“You deserve high quality roads because you contribute immensely to the city in terms of providing security,” he said
“The CIS is a crucial institution in Port Moresby, our people turn to look upon you for their wellbeing and safety.”
Parkop also mentioned that there was a possibility of building a new mini stadium there.
The project is expected to include a two-lane 3.4km long road with a width of 7m. Phoenix Construction Company Ltd was engaged for the project.
