NEARLY all the schools in six districts of Chimbu have started implementing the My School App to administer schools via their smart phones, Education Secretary Dr Uke Kombra says.
Kombra was at Kerowagi Secondary School on Friday to launch the new computer application that will be on smart phones.
“All the head teachers have been trained on how to use the application to run the schools, like the school enrolment figures, the number of students and teachers
in the certain school and many other necessary information,” Kombra said.
He said as the head teacher entered the necessary information, it would automatically update the data at the provincial office, at the Education Department headquarters and National Planning Office for effective planning of development.
“These information is necessary for the distribution of tuition fee free (TFF) so Chimbu is the first province to launch the My School App,” he said.
“A head teacher can be in Kainantu and enter the data on the screen. It will indicate the exact location where the officer is entering the data from.”
Chimbu education adviser Essy Walkaima thanked the Education Department for selecting Chimbu to be the first province in PNG to implement the My School App.
He said it was a very simple, effective and convenient method for effective school management.
“For anything new to happen, it has to happen in Chimbu, It will be a successful method so I call on Minster (Nick) Kuman and Secretary Dr Kombra to roll it out in other provinces,” Walkaima said.
Administrator Joe Kunda thanked Kuman, Kombra and Walkaima for implementing the new concept.
