Bougainville are planning to turn the tide when they face Eastern Stars in round two of the National Soccer League Southern Conference in Port Moresby on Saturday (10am kick-off).
The David Passam coached-side are looking to bounce back after producing a solid performance in their 1-0 loss to Hekari United.
Passam said their defensive structure and pace in attack needed improvement.
“Our defence opened up too many times last week and we gave them (Hekari) a lot of space to attack,” Passam said.
“Our attack was a bit slow and we lost it along the way.
“We talked about it last week and we’ve been talking about it this week but it’s just a matter of making things work when we’re out there on the field.
“This week’s challenge is another big one.
“Both sides are coming off a loss so it won’t be easy and we know that.
“We know that they (Eastern Stars) will be coming strong and we also want to register some points in this early stages of the competition.”
Passam tipped young midfielder Timothy Marley to maintain his form from last weekend.
“Timothy is a Grade 12 student and he is one of our young players who came through the ranks at Mungkas in the Port Moresby Soccer Association,” he said.
“He did well going up against veteran midfielder David Muta last weekend.”
Meanwhile, Papua New Guinea international Patrick Aisa is suffering from a groin injury and they’ve given him until Friday to prove his fitness for the Stars clash.
