BOUGAINVILLE are aiming for a spot in the Kumul Petroleum National Soccer League top-four after their second-straight win on Saturday.
Their 5-0 win over the Tusbab Stallions saw them move up two spots to sixth at the expense of Star Mountain (seventh) and Morobe Wawens (eighth).
“We can only control what we have for the remaining games but after that it depends on what happens to other teams in their remaining games,” Bougainville coach David Passam said.
“We can only aim to win from here and hopefully sneak into the top-four.”
Meanwhile, Kutubu remain upbeat despite losing 1-4 to second-placed Vitiaz United.
Kutubu acting head coach Gina Sam said his side was mostly made up of Southern Highlanders villagers along with a few young players from Morobe and Port Moresby.
“I’m impressed with how my men played in the first 45 minutes,” he said of the 1-1 scoreline at halftime.
“In the second half, we did well but we lost composure and gave away too much possession which allowed Vitiaz to pull ahead and win the match.
“We wanted to make them play and I think my men did that so we’ll have to go back and work on that for our last three games.”
