NATIONAL boxers competing in Oceania Fight Promotions-organised international bouts in Port Moresby on Dec 1, signed their contracts yesterday.
Seven fighters, including national welterweight champion John Korake, signed their contracts in the presence of promoter Martin Beni and OFP director Maryanne Millie.
According to Millie, the contracts stipulated that boxers would enter the boxing contest at the John Guise Indoor Complex on Dec 1 and OFP would pay them for their participation.
“The fighters will not engage in any other fights leading up to the Dec 1 event,” Millie said.
“They are subjected to medical checks conducted by OFP and must be in shape before the fights.
“Contests will be conducted according to the rules and regulations adopted by the PNG Professional Boxing Council and the contracts shall be valid upon their approval.”
Fighters Douglas Walo, Tom Boga, Henry Uming and Joe Kara were there to sign their contracts.
For the undercards, 18 local fighters signed their contracts on Monday.
Millie thanked major sponsor National Gaming Control Board, Motor Vehicles Insurance Limited, DataCo, Kumul Consolidated Holdings, Kumul Petroleum Holdings Limited and B-mie for their support in hosting the event.
World Boxing Council representatives and Prime Minister James Marape will attend the fights.
