PACIFIC Games gold medallist Tom Boga says he is ready to make a boxing comeback after being out of the ring for two years.
Boga, from Central and Eastern Highlands, will make his international debut in professional boxing against an Indonesian fighter at the Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby on Dec 1.
Boga, who won gold at the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, said he had been working hard to prepare for the fight.
“I’m confident in myself. I’m not underestimating my opponent,” the 30-year-old said.
“But I trust myself and the training my coach has been giving me. I train two to three times a day and that shows how focused and prepared I am for the fight.”
Accompanied by his trainer Ephraim Montoru, the welterweight fighter signed a contract for the bout in front of boxing legend Beni and Oceania Fight Promotions’ Maryanne Millie yesterday.
Montoru described Boga as a humble and committed fighter who he was happy to train.
“We are working hard at the gym every day to get him (Boga) physically and mentally prepared for the fight,” he said.
“We hope to put up a good challenge and hopefully, win the bout.”
