WORK on bringing clean water to a village on the outskirts of Port Moresby will begin today.

South Pacific Brewery’s clinic drinking water project was launched last Friday at Mesime village, 15-Mile.

The Boroko Rotary Club is one of the partners in the project.

According to a statement from the brewery company, providing clean drinking water was a challenge in the country.

“PNG is endowed with so much water but getting clean drinking water to our people

is still a major challenge.

“To mitigate this problem and to help improve our people’s livelihood, living standards and health indicators, we must manage our water resources, including streams, creeks and rivers,” the statement said.

SP Brewery said the project was expected to benefit the village communities by giving them quality clean drinking water, improving their accessibility to water, improving their hygiene and health and improving their living standards.

Work is expected to end in June.
