BRIAN Bell Group presented a cheque for K120,000 to Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) in support of Team PNG for the July 23-Aug 8 Tokyo Olympics.
Brian Bell Group Ian Clough said during yesterday’s presentation that their sponsorship was to help all eight athletes achieve their Olympic dreams.
“We are proud to celebrate and send our Olympians to Tokyo with this support of K120,000,” he said.
“Tokyo is a wonderful occasion for Papua New Guinean talents to go and showcase their skills to the rest of the world.
“As a PNG-owned company, we are proud to help our athletes realise their dreams.
“Not only through this sponsorship alone. But since January, we have been able to raise funds through our partnership with PNGOC.
“We’ve held shopping days over a number of weekends where funds from those shopping weekends were donated to PNGOC in support of Team PNG.
“Our last weekend of supporting them is this week and it coincides with our Olympians heading off to Tokyo.
“Some of the profits from this weekend will be donated to Team PNG.”
PNGOC president Sir John Dawanincura thanked Brian Bell Group for the support.
He said the support had helped them reached their target of K750,000 for Team PNG.
“It’s good that we continue to have a good relationship with Brian Bell Group,” Sir John said.
“Every time we’ve reach out to them for support, they’ve always said ‘yes’ and they continue to do so.”
The first group of Team PNG’s 20-member contingent, which includes 12 officials, will leave for Tokyo on Saturday.
