Brian Bell pushes the boundaries

Brian Bell Group says it likes to push its own boundaries and explore new options in promotion.
“We have different themes each year as well as maintain a mix with traditional elements, which are important and enjoyed by all of our customers,” said chief executive Cameron Mackella.
“This year, we kept tradition with our annual Christmas catalogue but it was a completely new design concept and seems to be a hit with everyone.
“There were far more pages than ever before, which meant more products to be displayed on every page and we printed lots more copies for increased circulation around the country.
“This has no doubt had a great influence in driving more customers to our stores. We have embarked on a massive programme to end 2018.”
Mackellar said Brian Bell had thousands of customers every week, all year.
Notable promotions included;

  • Christmas Wish Tree programme which will support seven charities in locations where there is a Homecentres store. These charities are City Mission (Port Moresby), Femili (Lae), Links of Hope (Mt Hagen), Modilon Hospital (Madang), Mount Sion Centre for the Blind (Goroka), Couppe House (Kokopo) and the Dental Clinic at Kimbe General Hospital.

“We are grateful our customers are so generous by donating a K2 Rudolph Nose (bauble) and place it on a tree in each store with a personal Christmas wish,” Mackellar said.
“The Sir Brian Bell Foundation partners on this important programme and every year SBBF makes a substantial donation beyond what our customers help to raise.
“We are hoping to raise around K180,000 this year.”

  • ‘Dash the Dog’ promotion – for every K100 a customer spends in store, they get to take home Dash the stuffed dog for K20 (normally K50).
  • Over 60 giveaway prizes (representing 60 years in business).

The prize pool is over K140,000 in total.
“We have competition winners drawn every week in each Homecentres location around the country during the six-week lead-up to Christmas,” Mackellar said. “They each won K2000 Brian Bell vouchers to spend instore when they want.
“Additionally, we will be drawing national winners straight after Christmas with a total of 12 massive prizes.”
The prizes are eight K6000 gift vouchers, three K10,000 vouchers and one K30,000 gift voucher to be won by a person or family.
