Brian Bell reduces prices to match cut in govt duty

Brian Bell Group has lowered prices on televisions, microwaves, clothes dryers and nine other categories, says group chief executive Cameron Mackellar.
Mackellar said the Government made a decision last year to reduce tariffs on a number of imported products to make it affordable for everyday Papua New Guineans.
“This reduction in tariffs means that our customers will experience new lower pricing on all of our televisions, microwaves and clothes dryers and nine other categories,” he said. “For 60 years, the Brian Bell Group has been about providing the best value, best quality and best service to Papua New Guinean communities.
“What better way to do this than by lowering the prices on a wide range of products even further.
“Televisions and electrical products are an enormous part of our range, and with the Brian Bell Homecentres stocking premium brands like Samsung, Sharp, our value brands like StarVision, plus our new solar TV ranges, we can offer even greater value pricing all backed by our Brian Bell warranty.
“The Brian Bell Group is all about giving back to the people of PNG and also ensuring we pay the appropriate taxes and duties on all of our imported products.
“We have battled to match pricing of various imported television products that are being sold by unscrupulous retailers who are avoiding
paying the appropriate taxes and duties.
“These reductions in duties now make the retail space for televisions fair and equal, plus ensure that every Papua New Guinean can buy a quality product from Brian Bell and know that they have the backing of our warranty and service centres.”
Mackellar said the reductions were permanent unless the Government increased duty on a number of imported tariffs, including TVs, again.
“Brian Bell will pass on any savings that we receive due to Government reductions on duties and tariffs,” he said.
