Bridge to serve people

THE people of Koboibus in Yangoru-Saussia, East Sepik now have a bridge to cross to Wewak and Maprik towns or Yangoru Station even though the river is flooding.
Yangoru-Saussia MP Richard Maru said he was pleased to see his people smiling when they saw the completion of Koboibus bridge.
He said it took the contractors about two years to build the bridge because of delays in the shipment of materials.
Signs are expected to be erected on both sides of the bridge after Works Department officers inspect the bridge to recommend maximum weights of vehicles that can cross it.
Maru said the construction of the bridge was funded by the District Development Authority at a cost of K1million.
He said the Handra Bridge in the Numbo LLG, still under construction, was expected to be completed soon.
He said building bridges was one of his priorities in the district because most mothers and people in the villages had been struggling to get to town to sell their garden produce because there was no good links to provide easy access.
