THE Divine Word University St Benedict’s Campus in Wewak, East Sepik opened the 2020 academic year on Thursday.
Wewak Diocese Bishop Jozef Roszynski celebrated the Holy Eucharist with around 920 students plus staff, Callan Services and Kaindi Dem Primary School.
The theme is “It is in giving that we receive.”
Bishop Jozef challenged students to use their time, abilities and resources wisely.
“If you plant good things today, you will harvest good things later,” he said.
He encouraged students to have a good relationship with God.
He told the students that they were privileged to be in school because of the hard work of their parents.
Therefore, they had a responsibility to fulfil their plans.
Dr Lawrence Arockiaraj said: “You must always remember that a teacher is not an information giver but a transformation maker.”
After the mass Dr Clement Malau on behalf of East Sepik Governor Allan Bird handed over a 30-seater bus to the campus.
The bus was blessed by Bishop Roszynski.
