Drug theft
HEALTH Minister Elias Kapavore has instructed health managers to apply stringent measures to avoid the theft of medical drugs in hospitals around the country. He had received reports of stealing of medicines from hospitals around the country. “The health department has installed CCTV cameras in all five area medical stores and officers caught stealing have been terminated.”

Building opened
VISITING International Labour Organisation director general Guy Ryder opened the Papua New Guinea Trade Union Congress’s new building in Port Moresby recently. The building has conference and ministration rooms including computers and equipment. The downstairs houses the affiliating unions including PNG Energy Workers Union and PNG Doctors Association.

Police investigate

POLICE are investigating the death of a man, who went missing for one week and was later found in Port Moresby General Hospital morgue. Central police commander chief Supt Johannes Yapi said the man from Rigo was last seen being picked up from his Taruba village almost two weeks ago. Yapi added that police knew the identity of two suspects and the vehicle used to pick up the deceased.

Election finishing

CENTRAL police commander Chief Supt Johannes Yapi said the local level government elections had been completed except for two wards in Goilala. For Gulf, the PPC commander Maria Johns said that local level government elections had also been completed except for the wards in East and West Kikori local level government which were expected to be completed today.
