Origin unclear yet
THE East New Britain Provincial Emergency Operations Centre has still not established the point of origin of the province’s Covid-19 case. Deputy chief physician for New Guinea Islands Dr Alex Maha said this over the weekend when responding to the common question going around about the root of the case and how it was transmitted to a woman.

Food donated
TRUCKLOADS of garden food were recently donated to six wards in the Kokopo district of East New Britain which were locked down due to the second confirmed Covid-19 case. Kokopo MP Emil Tammur arranged for the purchase of bags of rice, canned food and other food items for people at Raluana, Ialakua, Barovon, Vunatagia, Bitabaur and Vunamurmur.

ENB gets donations
East New Britain continues to receive donations such as masks from stakeholders in the province and country. Provincial administrator Wilson Matava thanked individuals and business houses who were supporting the province.

Workers trained
HEALTH workers in East New Britain are being trained on managing and responding to the coronavirus. Provincial Health Authority chief executive officer Dr Ako Yap said after five days of training the staff at Vunapope, they moved to them to rural facilities.

Test kits received
East New Britain (ENB) has received 50 coronavirus test kits and used them in the six affected wards in the Raluana LLG of Kokopo district. ENB SOE controller and provincial administrator Wilson Matava said the province needed between 500 and 1,000 test kits but that they would work with what had been provided by the Health Department.

Meet arranged
STUDENTS attending the Holy Trinity Teachers’ College in Western Highlands have been urged to return to the campus today. The college council in a special meeting in Mt Hagen last weekend said this was in preparation to start classes on April 20.

Enga Governor Sir Peter Ipatas urges public servants in the province to go home and educate people in the village. Addressing public servants at a recent meeting, he said: “It is selfish of you to lock yourselves in with families while your people need you to educate
