Students receive school fees
SEVEN students studying at the Divine Word University (DWU) in Madang recently received a school fee support of K2,800 total from local company Norman Finance Ltd. Founder and managing director Gabriel Andandi said supporting students by paying school fees had been the company’s tradition since 1992, as most students were disadvantaged and could not afford the fees.

Tree planting can earn money
CHUAVE MP Wera Mori says a lot of money can be earned from planting trees in relation to climate change. Mori, who is Minister for environment, conservation and climate change, said: “In 20 to 30 years, a tree planted today will earn you K4,000 to K5,000 in its full maturity, our target is to plant one million trees in Chimbu in a year.”

MP launches project
FOREIGN Affairs and International Trade Minister Patrick Pruaitch took time off from his ministerial duties to launch several projects in his district, Aitape-Lumi, in West Sepik, recently. Pruaitch launched the roofing iron project at Lemeing village along the east coast of Aitape-Lumi.

Bridge nearly washed away
A K300,000 footbridge over the Bauine River, Mumeng local level government, Morobe, was nearly washed away recently, according to councillor Jeffery Kaiau. Kaiau said the bridge was completed three months ago.
