Resold tickets discouraged
AIR Niugini discourages air travellers from buying resold airline tickets, including tickets bought during special offers. Its management said travellers suspected of buying such tickets would have their bookings and tickets cancelled without notice and would be denied boarding.

Shareholder proxy extended
THE term of the shareholder proxy for the East New Britain development corporation group will now be extended to match the length of the governor’s term in office. This followed a recent endorsement by the East New Britain assembly to extend the term of proxy shareholding from 12 months to five years.

TTU expanding awareness
AN Eastern Highlands-based non-government organisation, Touching the Untouchables (TTU), has been expanding its Covid-19 awareness programmes, and, to date, has covered 11 provinces with Gulf as it’s the latest addition. TTU officer Ismael John said the programmes were rolled out in 11 provinces for about a year now and “we expect to expand to all other remaining provinces”.

Over K65,000 for fees
HELA Governor Philip Undialu has paid more than K65,000 as school fee subsidy for 36 students attending the Professional Accelerate Institute (PAI) school of nursing in Western Highlands. PAI director Michael Wek Kerowa said the school allowed young people from the Highlands to become health workers.

Centre offers special course
A TRAINING and educational centre is offering Papua New Guineans a specific course on how to start, operate and grow businesses. International open education has helped many people through its online certificate, diploma, degree and masters programmes, programme director Tom Milaru said.

THE Government’s vision starts through education, Education Minister Jimmy Uguro says. Uguro said this would be achieved with the help of responsible communities in a collaborative effort.

Peace should prevail: Official
PEACE and harmony should prevail in mourning houses to respect those who have passed away, Fayantina local level government council president Ikana Avoka says. Avoka said this outside of Goroka town last week when the casket of the Komuifa resource development authority chairman Hans Fima was taken from the Goroka funeral home to the village.
