Praise for Christian declaration

ASSEMBLIES of God (AOG) Highlands superintendent Ps Peter Ropra commended Prime Minister James Marape for his intention to declare Papua New Guinea a Christian country. “I agree that this nation be declared a Christian country because without God and Christianity, the pains and struggles faced at the moment will not fade,” he said. “The timing is right to make such a declaration to bring about positive changes. “As the country starts to align with God’s Word and its eternal principles, it can create much impact on the Government with its people. “People are created in God’s image, but sin has destroyed the plan, and declaring the nation as a Christian country will create a difference.“There are those who oppose the law because of their doctrines, traditions, man-made laws, ceremonial rituals, days of worship and the likes, but, let me say this, our doctrinal difference as churches should not be the bases of our reluctant to support this plan.”
Ps Ropra called on the all church denominations in the country to set aside their differences, name tags, doctrinal beliefs and be as “Christians” to help put meaning into this important law that will determine the future of the country.
“Our country needs laws to get rid of corruption and free the people from all sorts of daily issues, could be on law and order and other related and serious problems,” he said. “When looking at some issues that are beyond our control, the church needs to rise and support this nation to be declared a Christian country. “This is where we will see God standing on our behalf. “The Christian country law when stated and deliberated should be reflective in the way of politics, economics, religion, engage with rights groups and to train our children at schools and institutions. “We also oppose the establishment of Pacific Pearl Casino on Paga Hill. “Building a casino will promote so many bad events and at the same time, can cause the downfall of successful people. “PNG does not need a casino. “Instead, the focus should be given to socio-economic growth of the nation. “This is a Christian country and we should not promote that kind of business.
“There will be many more problems than benefits and I believe that it is not proper to have such a casino.”
