Bring back the ‘grassroots airline’

Letters

WITH Christmas fast approaching, parents and guardians of school children are already planning their holiday travel. A great majority of the intending travellers will be shopping around for affordable airfares to suit their budgets. Unfortunately, they may not have much choices or chance of finding much cheaper air fares in the absence of “Mangi Lo Ples” aka Travel Air. Several months ago it was reported in the media that the airline was sold to an Indonesian company which promptly assured the public at the time that the “grassroots airline” should be back in operation soon. It is well past several months and there’s still no sign of Travel Air back in operation. Mangi Lo Ples was able to live up to its slogan to provide cheaper and affordable air travel for the grassroots and its absence has greatly affected and inconvenienced them. Enabling it to continue providing this noble service during the Christmas/New Year period would be a meaningful gift to the travelling public.
