BROTHERS came back from certain defeat to nail Tarangau in the Port Moresby Rugby Football League (POMRFL) A grade action at the Lloyd Robson Oval on Sunday.

Brothers came back from 30-12 down before starting a great fightback to score five tries in the last 20 minutes and win 40-30.

The lack of discipline by Tarangau five-eighth Alex Kay, who was sin-binned by referee Joe Peregua 14 minutes into the second-half was the catalyst for last season’s losing grand finalists to force their way back into the game.

Brothers play-maker Stanley Olo, who was kept quiet for most of the match, came into his own to feature prominently in their five-try haul to maintain their unbeaten run after three matches.

Brothers opened the floodgates through winger Swokin Magini, reserve back Presley Soto, centre Chris Kool and fullback Clement Nakmai with two tries.

Other outstanding players were prop John Supa and second-rower John Mondo, who worked tirelessly through the middle third.

Brothers coach Leonard Tarum attributed the win to the chutzpah of promoted juniors.

“The more wins we pick up early in the season puts us in a good position during the business end of the competition,” Tarum said.

Butterflies, who beat a luckless Hohola Flies 32-22, are the other undefeated team.

Reigning champions Dobo Warriors look to be getting back to form after a 20-12 win over Defence.  Magani ended Wests streak 16-6 win, Pumas beat Maiari Eagles 28-14 and Hawks wiry half-back Jerry Kone shone in their good win over Souths 26-18.
