Juggernauts copped a 75-7 flogging at the hands of Brothers in the Capital Rugby Union round 12 clash at Bava Park in Port Moresby on Saturday.
The first half saw Brothers displaying great defensive and attacking skills to lead 50-0, leaving Juggernauts no opportunity to score.
The second half saw Juggernaut wing Jesse Wayne scoring a try to post some points on the scoreboard.
The try spurred the side to make a few line breaks but their attempts to score tries were denied by some resolute defending.
“Before coming onto the field, we knew that Brothers were a tough team to play against,” Wayne said.
“I think many of us were mentally distracted before coming into the field.
“The halftime score made us realise that we could do better and we managed to score a try.
“We are still a young team.
“Many of our boys are in their early twenties, and we still have a lot of work to focus on our defence and attack.”
Juggernauts coach Soni Feruvatu said his players were mentally defeated before the game, knowing they were facing the competition leaders.
Feruvatu said his team was still growing in the competition.
The second match saw University securing a 19-10 win over Valley Hunters.
“The competition is getting competitive,” University coach Paul Joseph said.
“We are aiming to maintain second spot.”
