POLICE have charged two brothers implicated in the Black Cat Track killings last month in Morobe.
Provincial police commander Leo Lamei said the two had surrendered to community leaders and were picked up at Wapali village between Wau and Salamaua.
Police identified them as Gioni Kaweng and Kwadi Kaweng from Bitoi village in the Wau Rural local level government in Morobe.
Lamei said they surrendered after they were persuaded by their mother to give themselves in.
“I had also made a special appeal that if they surrender to authorities, their safety will be guaranteed,” Lamei said.
“Their surrender has brought the total of number of suspects captured to eight.”
Lamei said only one suspect was still on the run and police were looking for him.
“I won’t mention his name,” he said.
“He knows himself and must surrender to authorities or village leaders.”
The case of the brothers was adjourned to Dec 20.
