BROTHERS continues to lead the 2013 SP Port Moresby Rugby League competition ladder after Round 13 over the weekend.

Hanuabada Hawks also maintain their second place.

Both teams have been consistent so far with just two games to round off the first half of the season.

Despite losing narrowly to Butterflies 6-2 in a nail-biter on Friday afternoon the brethren still maintain their lead on 20 points, two clear of Hawks.

The Hanubada side scored enough points in the opening half of their match against an error-prone Kavo West side to run out 18-16 winners.

Defending premiers Dobo Warriors joined Magani and Kone Tigers in equal third spot with 16 points after a disappointing 6-6 draw against cellar-dwellers Kone Storm.

Magani were impressive in putting away Souths 14-4.

Tigers scored all their 18 points in the opening half and defended grimly in the second 40 despite allowing Royals to put on 14 unanswered points in the second half.

In the other match on Saturday, Defence put back-to-back wins together with a 14-10 getaway on Pumas.

In the curtain-raiser to the Digicel Cup match on Sunday between hosts Port Moresby Vipers and visitors Simbu Lions, Tarangau recorded their fifth win of the season 18-6 over Hohola Flies.

Flies showed glimpses of some entertaining football in front of a lively Lloyd Robson oval crowd but lacked the finishing touch at vital stage.

Tarangau’s experience in this area was the difference.

The Ladder: Brothers 20, Hawks 18, Magani 16, Dobo Warriors 16, Kone Tigers 16, Souths 14, Maiari Eagles 14, Butterflies 13, Pumas 12, Tarangau 10, Defence 10, West 10, Royals 9, Paga Panthers 5, Kone Storm 5, Hohola 4.
