BROTHERS dominated Crusaders 37-15 in their Capital Rugby Union premier grade clash on Saturday to stay on top of the ladder.
The brethren took a 17-0 lead in the first half courtesy of three tries.
In the second half, Crusaders had a player sent off for a high tackle but they still managed to cross for two tries to Brothers’ four.
“We tried our best to be consistent.
“At times we started off a bit slow, other times we got on with the ball but at the end of the day we always try to score as many tries as we can,” Brothers captain Amilo Ottio said.
“We respect all teams, there is no strong team, and there is no weak team, so we challenge ourselves every week when we come to play.
“Many of our boys have been playing since the juniors and they tasted a grand final last year where we lost to University Piggies. We challenged ourselves to come back stronger this year and I think we’re doing that.
“We still need to work on our discipline; we got a red card today. We have been getting red and yellow cards. But we good coaching behind us and we want to go in there and be consistent.”
Ottio took that time to thank their main sponsor Frank Prima, for his support over the past eight years and other minor sponsors.
Brothers remain undefeated and on top of the ladder after six rounds.
The Crusaders, who have a 2-4 record so far have not lost hope and are still determined to snare a few more wins before the end of the regular season. “They played well and had the experience and skill but we’ll come back and see them again,” Crusaders captain Ray Kanah Jr said.
“Our boys are much younger and less experienced but we are working on that and still improving slowly.
“We will need to work on our ruck and our discipline especially on our tackling.”
Round 6 Results: University Piggies 17 Wanderers 11, Nova 36 the Juggernauts- Nova 12, Brothers 37 Crusaders 15.
