THE BSP Junior Golf pro-am took place yesterday, with a corporate sponsorship of K10,000 plus merchandise for the junior golfers.
The pro-am at the Royal Port Moresby golf course and was a lead-up event to the 2019 SP Brewery PNG Golf Open from tomorrow.
The one-day tournament provided a platform for 13 juniors to team up with professional golfers, who shared tips to improve skills, enhance the level of play and have a fun and competitive golf day.
BSP continued to support this event, to promote junior sport development in PNG since 2013.
BSP senior relationship manager Alasdair Hinchcliffe said they remained committed to promote sports and support golf in the lead-up to the PNG Open.
“BSP has continued to support this event for the last seven years and that was to promote junior sport development in the country,” Hinchcliffe said. “BSP started this initiative in 2013 to develop junior golfers in PNG and the event continues to gain popularity on the international level and we remain committed to it,” Hinchliffe said.
Royal Port Moresby Golf Club president Peter Del Monte thanked the bank for its continued support, saying the junior pro-am had provided opportunities for many young golfers to excel and gain knowledge from visiting pros.
“The BSP Junior Golf pro-am develops young golfers and we truly appreciate BSP for their continued commitment,” Del Monte said.
This year marks the seventh year for BSP to support this event.
