BANK South Pacific has allocated K5 million this year to upgrade its branches in Telefomin, West Sepik, Gulf and Daru.
BSP group chief executive Robin Fleming said the bank was committed to reaching out to the rural areas to meet the people’s banking needs.
He said BSP typically incurred a minimum of K2 million in capital expenditure to set up or upgrade a sub branch.
Fleming said the construction of a facility in Yangoru station, East Sepik, began this month and would be completed. Five staff members will be posted there.
“It is contemplated that we will upgrade Maprik this year with Angoram in the prospect for 2021,” Fleming said.
“We will be spending at least K6million on these sub branches in East Sepik. These additional service points in East Sepik are a result of significant growth in agriculture already in place such as cocoa and vanilla, and also new developments such as palm oil which will increase demand for banking services.”

  • That’s good news for BSP Branches named but urge to personally visit Kimbe Branch and appreciate what difficulties customers in Kimbe are going through; we hope the Branch Management have already highlighted the problems with Customers Services.

  • the best upgrade BSP can do is – Fill the empty teller counters at all their branches nation wide. BSP has been making gigantic profits at the expense of its customers, the long hours and stress at for each customer in a year amounts to millions of lost productive time. The PNG think tanks, statistic office, ICCC this is an area that needs to draw your attention. Think outside the box. Take Back PNG!

  • Improve services in branches that make your profit. Why those branches named here.

Kimbe, Boroko, Buka, My Hagen, and Goroka should be priority.

  • Regarding bsp mobile banking, customers can be able to pay for school fee via their mobile phone but how will they be able to provide school fee receipt as their proof of payment
