Provincial branch wins community project award

THE BSP Aitape branch in West Sepik won the bank’s 2019 best community project award for the Lumi Primary School double classroom last year.
BSP general manager retail Paul Thornton said during the bank’s awards night that the Aitape branch team, under the small branch category, revisited the double classroom, installed interior walls, cemented the floors, built 20 desks, put in windows and added a refresh coat of paint.
Last year, BSP delivered 48 projects in PNG, each to the value of K25,000 and other off-shore branches handed over 18 projects.
Since 2009, BSP has completed over 400 projects totalling more than K10 million.
Lumi Primary School head teacher John Bosco Sai said during the handover of the project last year “BSP is truly the people’s bank as it gives back to the community.
“Your assistance during the time of urgent need gives the school a great relief.”
There were six BSP branches and strategic business units recognised by the BSP community project board for their achievements and efforts in the bank’s community projects respectively.
Mt Hagen branch scooped the BSP 2019 best community project award for the large branch category for the second consecutive year for the renovation of the Mt Hagen Secondary School basketball court.
Tabubil branch took out the medium branch award for construction of a new septic system at Wangbin Primary School.
