THE Bank of South Pacific has donated four 9000-litre water tanks to the Hagen Tee Primary School in Mt Hagen under its community programme.
Branch manageress Mary Kundi said the bank wanted to contribute something back to the people in the communities including the bank employees.
Mary said the community projects focused on education, health, sports and the environment.
Headmaster David Numbaming thanked BSP saying the school had been facing a water supply problem for years.
He said they had to send children home when the water supply from PNG Water Board was cut off because of mechanical problems with the pumps.
“The student population is 1900 plus 45 teachers and fresh water is very important to use for the toilets, drinking, washing hands and for other purposes,” he said.
Sometimes when the water pressure is low, they have to pay K3000 to the Works Department to refill the two tanks at the school.
Numbaming said they would store enough rain water in the four tanks from BSP to cut down on their water bills.
