BANK South Pacific launched its State of Origin-branded Kundu cards in Port Moresby yesterday as it capitalises on the popularity of the rugby league event.
The bank has been granted licence by the Australian Rugby League Commission to co-brand selected BSP cards, including BSP Kundu cards, over the next three years.
This was done in order for its customers to align with the national sport of PNG, BSP Group chief executive Robin Fleming said.
Fleming said discussions and negotiations with the Australian Rugby League had been going on for a period of time “to see how we can maximise BSP’s customer reach which is significant”.
“We have 1.9 million customers all around PNG,” he said.
“Many of them are Kundu card holders.
“We want people to be able to take advantage of this co-branding association.
“Existing BSP customers have a limited-offer period to order replacement of their current Kundu cards to their favourite State of Origin team.
“New customers also have the option of opening their new accounts and selecting their new card with BSP.”
Fleming said it did not cost anything to get new cards.
The Kundu cards are immediately effective as of the launch, BSP head of marketing Gorethy Semi said.
“The State of Origin-branded Kundu cards are available at any of our branches nationwide,” she said.
“The normal standard green Kundu card will be still available.”
Fleming said there would be more co-branding in the coming months to provide alot more excitement for customers as well as Australian NRL followers. “We will also be able to have our Visa debit cards for customers to be able to choose a branding of choice in the coming months,” he said.
