VODAFONE subscribers can now use the Bank South Pacific Financial Group Ltd’s (BSP) mobile banking services following its launching in Port Moresby yesterday.
“The inclusion of Vodafone to our unstructured supplementary service data (USSD) platform opens up opportunities to reach the unbanked and the underbanked or underserved,” says BSP’s retail deputy general manager Peter Komon.
Vodafone SIM card holders can register and access BSP’s mobile banking services such as the checking of balances, transferring of funds, topping-up of mobile credits, purchasing of EasiPay top-up, school fees and airline ticket payments, paying for water bills, National Capital District Commission services and mobile merchant retailers.
“BSP’s USSD platform can be accessed either with a smartphone or even with a simple feature phone practically anywhere there is Vodafone network coverage,” Komon said.
“BSP is delighted to extend this partnership to Vodafone by offering BSP mobile banking’s convenient banking and payment platform to Vodafone customers.”
Vodafone public relations and sponsorship manager Charmaine ToRobert said partnerships with banks such as BSP would drive financial inclusion efforts and provide financial services to rural people.
BSP is happy to have onboard Vodafone, a telecommunications company that has customer base of 300,000 active subscribers.
