BANK South Pacific Financial Group Limited (BSP) yesterday announced a K150,000 sponsorship for the SP Hunters’ campaign in the upcoming Hostplus Cup season.
The Hunters kick off their campaign against hosts Mackay Cutters at BB Print Stadium on Saturday (4.30pm kick-off).
Bank chief executive officer Robin Fleming said the sponsorship supported the efforts of the Hunters in the lead-up to their 2022 season campaign with the partnership to drive for more sporting activities at the elite level.
“We’re very supportive of any activity which promotes positive attitudes across the community,” he said.
“From BSP’s perspective, this is one of the key reasons we are participating in the sponsorship of the Hunters for 2022.
“We have sponsorship associated with schools rugby league and the Digicel Cup.
“Rugby league is the national sport and BSP is a national bank and those synergies are evident in many ways.
“We’re looking forward to the Hunters starting positively on the field.”
Fleming said the bank was eyeing a longer-term partnership as a sponsor of the Hunters with the initial support of K150,000 for this year.
Meanwhile, Hunters commercial manager Alan Moramoro said the sponsorship tied into the club’s core function of developing players from the grassroots level into higher competitions of rugby league domestically and abroad.
“The synergies between BSP and the Hunters are evident through different social awareness programmes and community development,” he said.
“What BSP at community grassroots level really ties in with what the Hunters is, growing junior sports and providing different avenues to develop Papua New Guineans.”
