BANK South Pacific (BSP) launched three state-of-the-art banking services last Friday to make it more convenient and secure for mobile banking customers in the country.
Group chief executive officer Ian B Clyne said BSP had once again set the pace for mobile banking in Papua New Guinea and the Pacific by introducing the menu based platform, SMS alert service and mobile internet banking for its customers.
“BSP is the one bank that is truly committed to making banking a convenient and easy part of life,” he said.
“We are one bank that has a real understanding that there’s an increasing need to save time and money.
“We’re committed to improving our product offers, service levels and access to banking services for our customers by continuing to introduce new services and technology.”
BSP introduced mobile banking via SMS in 2009 and today there are more than 223,000 BSP mobile banking users.
Clyne said with the advanced technology involved, customers could now transact 24 hours a day, using the menu-based services directly on their mobile phones and avoiding long queues in the branch or ATM lobbies.
“This mobile banking is session-based and each session commences from log in and these services apply only to Digicel network users,” he said.
“Alert services range from salary to other activities to their accounts and customers can register for which one they want to receive.”
The menu based service also allows customers to view their mini statements, view current transaction, purchase top ups, receive SMS alerts when there were activities happening to their accounts, and transfer funds to third party accounts.

Mobile internet banking is an internet-based service that provides customers access to their accounts using their mobile phone 24 hours, seven days a week.
This service is for a customer with active BSP personal accounts who owns a mobile phone device that has web access and meets requirements.
It allows customers to:
g View their account balances;
g View their recent transactions;
g een their own accounts;
g Transfer funds to other PNG accounts;
g Pay their bills; and
g View their future transactions
