LAE Bank South Pacific workers on Saturday took to the streets of the city picking up plastics and any inorganic matter in their Go Green campaign.
The day before, they had gone to all schools in the city and urged students to clean up their yards as part of World Clean-up weekend on Sept 17-19.
Nearly 100 bank employees and their family members from the Coronation Drive, Central Avenue and Main Market branches took to the streets armed with gloves and bags to pick up plastics, bottles and any material that was inorganic.
They gathered at the St Paul’s Lake early on Saturday with BSP area manager (Mamose) Mark Kamjua to begin the cleanup.
An excited Market branch manager Julie Warren said she could not contain herself when she noticed that several children, who did not get the campaign’s promotional light green shirt still showed up with their parents to help keep the city clean.
The BSP branches in Madang, Wewak and Maprik in East Sepik, Vanimo, West Sepik and Lorengau, Manus also observed the day with similar activities.
