Budget aimed at growth

THE Autonomous Bougainville Government’s (ABG) 2022 Budget is focused on creating economic growth and promoting investment opportunities on Bougainville, President Ishmael Toroama says.
He was speaking recently at the budget session for the Bougainville House of Representatives.
Toroama said that since the creation of the ABG, the government had lacked the capacity to exploit the full potential of its autonomous powers.
“This has created a scenario where the region continues to remain dependent on the National Government for funding and this dependency syndrome has rendered autonomy virtually impotent on Bougainville,” he said.
