Building roads remains a challenge

Letters

THE near-impossible task of linking districts through roads has been a challenge for many rural districts in the last 40 years.
Just as many rural areas, Bulolo has succumbed to the same fate as the district-funded Bulolo road maintenance project has taken almost a decade now but it has so far created access for only one of its six local level government (LLG) areas.
The road link beginning at the turn off from Gabensis in the Wampet LLG of the neighbouring Huon-Gulf took longer than usual as funding, plant and equipment have been a real pain for those involved in this project to ensure that the people of Buang are linked to the Bulolo Highway.
Tucked in at 4,900 meters above sea level, weather conditions are quite unpredictable at times, leaving the district little to no choice but to have the project stalled.
