THE Canterbury Bulldogs visited the Port Moresby General Hospital on Friday as part of their community outreach obligations with club’s representatives taking time out to meet the staff and patients at the children’s ward.
Bulldogs coach Dean Pay was excited at the chance to reach out to the community.
“It’s great to come and see the kids, we were more than happy to come and see the kids and put a smile on their faces,” he said.
“PNG is a rugby league nation and it’s good to get out into the community and meet the people. The people working here have been doing some great work and we just wanted come here and support everyone and the good job they’re all doing.
“We’ve loved every minute of it since we’ve landed and we’re really enjoying our time and we’re hoping we can pull more supporters for the Bulldogs after our time in PNG.”
Bulldogs chief executive Andrew Hill said the team were dedicated to impacting communities and recognising people behind the scenes.
“The Bulldogs are more than just a rugby league team that play in the NRL,” he said.
The Bulldogs, who won 30-18 against the Sharks on Saturday, were part of a mini-module rugby league programme.
