THE International Cricket Council (ICC) is happy with the development of the sport in the country as they it looks forward to working with Cricket Papua New Guinea (CPNG).
ICC East Asia-Pacific (EAP) regional manager Ed Shuttleworth and ICC EAP delegates met CPNG officials at Amini Park in Port Moresby last week.
“Cricket has seen a significant growth in recent times in PNG in terms of development,” Shuttleworth said.
“We are here to understand, help and develop the code.”
CPNG chief executive Greg Campbell acknowledged the visitors.
Campbell said with the national men’s team (Barramundis ) qualifying for this year’s T20 World Cup in Australia, they were looking forward to playing consistently on the world stage.
“To reach an extra woman, man or child with cricket every day is what we aspire to do, as we believe cricket is a family sport,” he said.
Campbell urged CPNG staff to work closely with the delegates for the best interest of cricket development in PNG during their short visit.
The delegates visited Charles Luanga Secondary School and the Ela Murray International School.
