Bullet under police test

National

THE bullet removed from the body of Alotau shooting victim the late Rodha Dick is undergoing tests to determine the gun it was fired from, police say.
The Police Department’s chief of forensic science Supt Philip Rambaliku told The National that his officers had identified that the bullet was fired from a rifle.
He said many firearms were confiscated during the police operation in Alotau so the police had to match the bullet to those firearms and the other police firearms to determine which gun the bullet was fired from. Rambaliku said of the firearms confiscated by the police, one was a rifle and two were shot guns.
Rambaliku was responding to questions raised by the family on the progress of the investigations into Dick’s death.
He said the results of the tests would determine whether police or criminals were responsible for the death.
Dick was shot and killed at Kitava Compound in Alotau on Dec 6, 2018 as police searched for robbery suspect Tommy Maeva Baker and his gang.

  • Police are the trigger happy culprits. This is one of the many incidents people have been either killed or injured due to Police negligence. Police I PNG should not be armed I public and harass the citizens at will. Police should bar full responsibility instead of this bull-crap investigation which will eventually come back to them. There should be some eye witness who saw the police firing the shot which eventually hit the lady.

    • I hope they find the person who did this and justice is served. Eye witnesses do not usually come forward for fear of being attacked.
